Over three thousand years ago major changes began in Estonia. People began to live settled lifestyle, built farms and fields – agricultural landscape took on a look that remained as such in modern days. Changes are in people’s ways of thinking and habits. They began to erect monuments to commemorate those who have left. People became vainer, began to adorn themselves with expensive bronze objects.
In Jõelähtme’s vicinity are the oldest witnesses of the new age – fields, stone graves, cult, culture, scenery. For the protection of this unique landscape Estonias biggest, Rebala Heritage Conservation Area, has been created.
In the middle of this all, next to the unique Jõelähtme graves is located Rebala museum, where we try to weave clearer this fascinating history.
